Jenny Gummersall, About

BIO

Jenny Gummersall’s award winning art depicts familiar western icons presented in a contemporary Americana-style. From Horsescapes to Florals to Ranch Culture, she offers a unique vision of the West. Artistic preservation and portrayal of western heritage and culture is important to her work.

  • Jenny was born and raised near Chicago. Exposure to that vibrant arts scene, western movies and her grandparents involvement in the arts, ignited her passion. At the moment Jenny saw the magic of an image come to life in a darkroom tray, she knew at three years old, that she would create art.

Jenny studied art and photography at Columbia College in Missouri. Drawn to the west, she transferred and graduated from the University of New Mexico. Her photographs were included in Santa Fe’s Armory show while still a student at UNM. It was there under New Mexico’s light, that Jenny’s artistic language was developing around the Western Landscape and Cultures.

“I hope to enhance others lives with my art, to spread joy, or give solace, to provide a place to rest and ponder or just to add humor or pleasure to someone’s day though my art”

Jenny works in various mediums; Fine Art Photography, Hand Colored Photographic Images on Canvas, Assemblage and Original Oil Paintings. Much of her floral series grows in her personal garden. Horse images from ranches she’s lived on or visited.

Jenny’s art is included in Museum, Private and Corporate Collections, Luxury Guest Ranches, Hotels, Health Care and more. Numerous publications feature Jenny’s art.

“Whether it’s her minimalist clouds, evocative horsescapes, or sculptural fresh eggs, Jenny’s images convey not just her skill with a camera but also the nature of her days, the nuance of her eye, and the attunement of her spirit” -Cowboys & Indians Magazine

After decades of living on ranches in Southwest Colorado, traveling throughout the West for art, ranch events and their youngest son Tyller’s music career, Jenny and her husband, artist Gregory Gummersall are now based in Prescott, AZ.
